U.S. authorities announced the 20-year prison sentence against a Mexican man identified as the leader of an organization called La Oficina, which is involved in shipping drugs into the United States.

The man, Alejandro Salinas, 48, originally from Tijuana, Baja California, had previously pleaded guilty to participating in an international conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine.

The sentence, announced on February 13, is part of the investigation against La Oficina, an organization that operated as a 24/7 drug store in Tijuana and shipped various drugs, including methamphetamine and fentanyl.

The organization also sold drugs wholesale and delivered to users and dealers in San Diego.

“The organization employed ‘runners,’ usually U.S. citizens, who smuggled drugs across the international border to fulfill orders,” the report stated.
