A production crew entered the safe house where Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán Loera was captured a decade ago on April 21, prompting a police mobilization and generating alarm among residents of the Las Palmas neighborhood in Los Mochis, Sinaloa.

According to testimonies gathered by local media, neighbors initially thought it was a new shootout or the capture of another drug lord, until they realized it was filming, presumably for a docuseries.

During the operation, cameramen recorded images inside the house and also accessed the storm drain, replicating the escape route used by El Chapo and his head of security, Orso Iván Gastélum Cruz, “El Cholo Iván,” in January 2016.

Motorists and residents recorded videos of the operation with their cell phones and shared them on social media, where they quickly went viral.
