A foreign national identified as Alex Fernando ‘N’—known by the aliases “El Mariachi” or “El Mexicano”—was arrested in Atizapán de Zaragoza, State of Mexico, according to journalist Carlos Jiménez.

As reported by the host of the program *C4 en Alerta*, “El Mariachi” was taken into custody while driving through the streets of the municipality, appearing to be under the influence of alcohol.

The journalist explained that Alex ‘N’ was operating a gray vehicle with flat tires; the car was scraping against the pavement as it moved, which drew the attention of the authorities, who signaled for him to stop.

After catching up with the vehicle, municipal police officers instructed the driver to step out and conducted a preventive search in accordance with standard police protocols.

Following the incident, Alex Fernando ‘N’ was placed at the disposal of the State of Mexico Attorney General’s Office (FGJ), which will determine his legal status through a public prosecutor.
According to information shared by Carlos Jiménez, Alex Fernando ‘N’ is accused of establishing routes that allowed Mexican cartels to traffic drugs into the United States.

The journalist noted that “El Mariachi” posed as a businessman involved in the management and organization of concerts—a front he allegedly used to maintain anonymity while carrying out his criminal operations.

In connection with these activities, the Colombian National Police arrested Alex Fernando ‘N’ in Antioquia, Medellín, in 2021, following the issuance of an Interpol “Red Notice” for his capture.

Furthermore, the journalist reports that “El Mariachi” is wanted by a court in New York, United States; it is expected that a decision will be made soon regarding whether he will be extradited or remain in Mexico.
