Officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) have arrested ‘El Chopersito’ in Iztapalapa—an individual suspected of instigating violence and linked to at least 10 separate incidents in the borough.
The 20-year-old man was apprehended in possession of a firearm following a pursuit in the Santa Cruz Meyehualco neighborhood, reported Pablo Vázquez Camacho, head of the SSC.
According to the information released, the suspect—while in a vehicle—injured a police officer and struck a motorcyclist; a woman was also injured during his attempt to flee.
In response to the gunfire initiated by the suspect, security personnel returned fire.
“I commend the professionalism, courage, and commitment of the officers who acted with determination to protect the public and fulfill their duty in the face of this dangerous situation,” wrote Vázquez Camacho.
