One femicide and three additional murders were reported within an eight-hour span on the streets of Tijuana, according to reports from the Baja California State Investigation Agency.
The femicide occurred at 11:00 p.m. on Monday, August 3, in the Cañón Palmas area of the Tres de Octubre neighborhood. The victim was shot to death while with a three-year-old child, who was unharmed.
Seven femicides have been reported in Baja California; six of the victims were adults between the ages of 18 and 60, while the age of the victim in the remaining case was not specified. With four cases, Mexicali ranks ninth nationwide for femicides.
However, another 60 women were murdered, according to the National Public Security System. The majority of the victims were adults (47), one was an adolescent, and the ages of the others are unknown.
The State Attorney General’s Office police force reported the discovery of a dismembered body inside two backpacks hidden in the trunk of a car abandoned on Tapachula Avenue in the Hipódromo neighborhood.
Additionally, the body of a man with gunshot wounds was found on Privada Río Tiber Street in the Natura housing development.
Another body, wrapped in a blanket, was also found on the Escénica Highway near the Punta Bandera neighborhood.
