Three individuals have been sentenced to more than 20 years in prison for their alleged involvement in crimes against public health—specifically the transportation of cocaine hydrochloride and the possession of hydrocarbons—with both offenses carrying the aggravating circumstance of organized gang activity.

The individuals in question are Iván “N,” Óscar “N,” and Miguel “N,” who were arrested in August 2023 aboard a vessel located 193 nautical miles southwest of Acapulco, Guerrero.

According to a May 3 report from the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the men were sentenced to 20 years, 11 months, and 29 days in prison—to be served at the Acapulco CERESO (Social Reintegration Center)—in addition to a fine of 425,230 pesos and an order to pay restitution for damages to Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX).

The vessel on which they were traveling was equipped with two outboard motors and bore no registration markings; furthermore, authorities discovered 2,387 kilograms and 270 grams of cocaine hydrochloride, as well as 137 liters and 808 milliliters of hydrocarbons, on board.
