On Monday, April 13, Juan Carlos García Núñez, identified by his stage name “Juanito García”, was shot to death on Roble Avenue, in the municipality of San Pedro Garza García.
The attack was committed in front of an armed highway police officer and led to the immediate mobilization of security and emergency forces. The young man, originally from Culiacán, Sinaloa, was known for his activity as a narcocorrido singer, with a presence on digital platforms and a criminal record in his history.
García Núñez was 26 years old and had lived in Monterrey for six months, according to an INE credential found in the truck in which he was murdered, a white armored Jeep, with superimposed Nuevo León license plates and deregistered from the vehicle registry.
The vehicle belonged to a leasing company, as confirmed by the municipal Security Secretary, José Luis Kuri. The official stated that the attack was direct and planned, carried out by a single attacker who approached on foot and fired three times with a firearm.
