From Barcelona, ​​Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum highlighted the importance of culture as a tool for resistance, recognizing singer-songwriter Joan Manuel Serrat as a leading figure in the defense of democratic and social values.

Within the framework of the 4th Summit in Defense of Democracy, the Mexican leader emphasized that figures such as Serrat have contributed to keeping historical memory alive and to promoting messages of justice, freedom, and dignity through art.

Claudia Sheinbaum’s visit to Spain is part of her participation in this international forum, which brings together progressive leaders from various regions to analyze the current challenges facing democracy.

During the gathering—which also features the participation of figures such as Pedro Sánchez and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva—strategies were discussed regarding the rise of authoritarian stances and the need to strengthen global cooperation.
