On the night of April 18, the Plaza de la Constitución transformed into a massive stage where opera, cumbia, and popular music converged during a performance by Andrea Bocelli, accompanied by Los Ángeles Azules and Ximena Sariñana, as part of his *Romanza 30th Anniversary World Tour*.

Hours before the free concert was set to begin, the capital’s Zócalo started filling up with attendees arriving from various boroughs of the city and neighboring states.

The recital began nearly 20 minutes behind schedule; immediately, a succession of famous arias—such as “La donna è mobile,” along with excerpts from *Carmen*, *La Traviata*, and *The Pearl Fishers*—captivated the audience.

Cell phones lit up the Zócalo as the Italian tenor’s voice soared across the vast esplanade. *O Fortuna* from *Carmina Burana*—performed with full orchestra and choir—took on an imposing grandeur within the historic city center.

Midway through the performance, a main screen projected images from Bocelli’s career, while in the background, the Minería Symphony Orchestra sustained the atmosphere, bridging the gap between operatic pieces and popular songs. A collaboration with Ximena Sariñana on “What a Wonderful World,” followed by the collective dancing that erupted when “Mis sentimientos” and other hits by Los Ángeles Azules began to play, unleashed a wave of jubilation.
