On the morning of Thursday, June 4, a massive explosion occurred at an LP gas tanker storage facility located on Prolongación Cuauhtémoc (no number), in the San Juan Negrete neighborhood of the municipality of Tepeaca, Puebla.
The loud blast and towering flames sparked panic among the public, prompting many residents to evacuate their homes. Additionally, the Tepeaca General Hospital, the BUAP “2 de Octubre” Preparatory School, and the Miguel Negrete Novoa School Center were evacuated; approximately 2,000 people were moved to safety.
The public is urged to stay away from the area, as emergency crews are already on the scene working to extinguish the fire and attend to any potential casualties.
The explosion of four LP gas tankers mobilized emergency services, Civil Protection, and Public Security forces within the municipality of Tepeaca, Puebla.
Reports indicate that the incident took place adjacent to the General Miguel Negrete Novoa School Center; consequently, the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) evacuated 1,753 students, teachers, and administrative staff.
In this regard, the State Civil Protection agency confirmed that the explosion occurred at a facility used for storing gas tankers.
