Cars and Businesses Set Ablaze in Nayarit Following Capture of ‘El Jardinero’

In response to the capture of Audias Flores Silva—alias “El Jardinero”—suspected criminals carried out illicit acts, including the burning of businesses and vehicles, in the municipalities of Tecuala (bordering Sinaloa), as well as in Ahuacatlán and Acaponeta, according to official sources.

Car fires have also been reported along several stretches of highway bordering the state of Jalisco.
In Tecuala, it was reported that unidentified individuals deliberately started fires at an Aurrera supermarket and an OXXO convenience store; meanwhile, in Xalisco, at least two cars were set ablaze in the middle of a public street, leading to the suspension of public transportation services.

In the municipality of Ahuacatlán, authorities reported vehicle burnings and road blockades; furthermore, it was announced that temporary shelters had been activated to accommodate individuals stranded on the highways.

Authorities in the municipalities of Acaponeta, Tecuala, Ahuacatlán, Xalisco, and Santa María del Oro advised residents to remain indoors unless absolutely necessary, in light of the recent events unfolding across various points of the region.
