A video went viral on social media showing the exact moment a man sexually abused a minor on a balcony in the Usaquén district of Bogotá. Thanks to the recording made by neighbors, the Bogotá Metropolitan Police arrested the perpetrator moments later.
Following the legal proceedings, several authorities have released new details about the case. The director of the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF), Astrid Cáceres, commented on the situation, which has generated outrage in the country.
Through her X account (formerly Twitter), the official thanked the citizens for their quick reaction, who alerted the authorities and allowed them to intervene in the case of alleged sexual abuse.
Furthermore, in her statement, she announced that “the Child and Adolescent Police have placed two girls and a boy in the custody of the ICBF (Colombian Institute of Family Welfare) administrative authorities, where they are undergoing health assessments as part of the rights verification process.”
This means that, in addition to the child who appeared in the video that led to the arrest of the alleged aggressor, there were two other children present at the same location. “A report on the case will be issued once further developments are made. It is important to keep the children’s identities confidential throughout the entire process and allow the competent authorities to work with the information obtained,” Cáceres added.
Although the identity of the arrested individual has not yet been revealed, Colombian Immigration confirmed that the detainee is a U.S. citizen who entered the country on June 6 through El Dorado International Airport, according to Blu Radio.
