On May 7, it was confirmed that a control judge formally indicted Alexander “N”—alias “Metro 9” or “R9”—a figure identified as the leader of the “Los Metros” faction of the Gulf Cartel.
According to official information, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) presented the necessary evidence to substantiate his probable involvement in crimes related to the possession of firearms, magazines, and ammunition designated for the exclusive use of the armed forces.
The arrest took place following the execution of a search warrant in the Vicente Guerrero neighborhood of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, on April 27, as part of operations conducted by the Mexican Government’s Security Cabinet.
Personnel from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) participated in the operation that led to his capture, with support from the Federal Prosecutor’s Office for the State of Tamaulipas and forensic experts from the state’s Coordination of Forensic Services.
Alexander Benavides Flores is the full name of the defendant, according to records consulted by this media outlet within the National Registry of Detentions.
