A shooting at a bar in the San Bartolo Ameyalco neighborhood of the Álvaro Obregón borough resulted in four men dead and one injured. The Mexico City Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) also confirmed the arrest of two individuals involved in the incident.
The incident began at a business on Miguel Hidalgo Street, where a group of young people started a brawl. During the altercation, one of the individuals involved pulled out a pistol and fired directly at the patrons.
A fifth individual sustained a gunshot wound to his right thigh and was rushed to a hospital on the outskirts of the city under strict police custody, as he was identified as one of the people who fired the shots.
During the perimeter security operation, capital police officers apprehended a 22-year-old woman outside the establishment. The suspect is accused of attempting to hide the weapon used in the multiple homicide. After a preventive search, officers seized a handgun loaded with five live rounds, as well as a mobile phone.
The injured man—now in custody—along with the woman and the seized weapon, were handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Attorney General’s Office. This agency will compile the investigation file and determine the legal status of the accused in the coming hours.
The SSC emphasized that the immediate intervention of security patrol units, combined with real-time analysis of CCTV footage, facilitated the location and capture of the alleged participants in the shooting, which shocked the residents of the San Bartolo Ameyalco community.
