Los Angeles County officials Wednesday were urging residents, visitors and fans attending FIFA World Cup 2026 matches at SoFi Stadium to sign up for emergency alerts and preparedness notifications before the tournament begins.
The county launched a public-awareness campaign this week ahead of the start of World Cup play in the region. Eight matches are scheduled to be played at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood between Friday and July 19, beginning with the United States’ opening match against Paraguay at 6 p.m. Friday.
Officials encouraged residents and visitors to register for emergency alerts through the county’s alert system at alert.lacounty.gov and to review preparedness information available here, including emergency planning resources and cooling center locations.
County officials also urged the public to follow @CountyofLA and @ReadyLACounty on X, Instagram and Facebook for updates throughout the tournament.

Residents can also sign up for notifications from the City of Los Angeles through NotifyLA here.
In the event of an emergency, officials told residents and visitors can check evacuation status information here or through the Genasys Protect mobile application.
