Alberto Lizárraga, a member of the most influential dynasty in Sinaloan music, died on August 12 at the age of 75, after a long period away from the stage due to various health challenges. His family confirmed the news on Wednesday via social media.
“El Betón,” as the musician was known, was a member of El Recodo, the group founded by his father, Don Cruz Lizárraga, a pioneer of the genre.
After leaving the band in the early 1990s, he formed Banda Mr. Lobo, a project that established him as a key figure in the genre.
José Ángel Lizárraga announced his brother’s passing in a post on the official Banda Lizárraga Musical account.
“Today I have to say goodbye to you, but not without first thanking God for the gift of your life and for every moment we shared. You were more than a brother; you were my life companion, my support, and my friend. Thank you for all your affection, for your example, and for always being by my side. I know that you are now in the arms of our Heavenly Father, at peace and free from pain.”
His sons, José and Alberto, also shared messages in memory of their father. “Today is a very sad day for me. My beloved father, Alberto Lizárraga Lizárraga, has departed this earthly world. I thank God for the time He allowed me to have with him, and I know that he is resting now. Thank you for everything, my *Bato Machín*,” wrote Alberto Lizárraga on Facebook.
