Sandra Cuevas, former mayor of the Cuauhtémoc borough, reacted on X—formerly Twitter—to the arrest of Eduardo “N”, a man who, according to press reports, is her current romantic partner. Investigative agents made the arrest on Thursday, June 25, in Mexico City, in compliance with an arrest warrant issued by authorities in Coahuila. The specific crime for which he was arrested has not yet been disclosed.
Reporter Carlos Jiménez, who specializes in security and drug trafficking issues, linked the detainee to the businesswoman. “ANOTHER SCAMMER BOYFRIEND of @SandraCuevas_, ARRESTED! Eduardo Pérez Tueme has thus joined her list of friends and fleeting loves who end up in jail. Here they call him her ‘fiancé.’ He was arrested by agents of @PDI_FGJCDMX. He was processed at @FiscaliaCDMX and handed over to @FGECoahuila,” she wrote on X.
Without directly alluding to the journalist, with whom she has had public clashes in the past, Sandra Cuevas commented on the case.
“So you have more material, since they uploaded the photo of his arrest very unflatteringly and edited. Here’s my face. I have nothing to hide. I’ll send out a press release tomorrow. Today I’m busy working.”
Sandra Cuevas’s comments sparked a heated debate on social media about the case and the recent arrests of men under investigation for alleged links to organized crime.
The most prominent public cases of men arrested who have been romantically linked to or extremely close to the former mayor are Eduardo Pérez Tueme, Alejandro Mendoza (alias “El Choko”), and Óscar Giovanni Mata (alias “El Topo”). It is worth noting that, although authorities have arrested several collaborators and associates from her political circle, only a few have been directly identified as current or former partners.
