The bus carrying the musical group of Memo Garza—former lead singer of La Adictiva—was fired upon while traveling along the Mexico-Orizaba highway in the state of Puebla early Sunday morning.

The incident occurred near the Xonacatepec bridge as the group was returning from a concert at the San Pablo del Monte Fair in Tlaxcala—held Saturday night—and preparing for a performance in Chiapas scheduled for June 28.

Unofficial reports indicate that the attack took place when a group of armed individuals intercepted the vehicle and opened fire, apparently attempting a robbery; the driver and musicians decided not to stop, opting instead to seek help further along the route.

Puebla’s Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) stated that the occupants reported the bus had been struck by at least two shots—allegedly from a firearm—prompting them to continue driving and divert to the Del Valle neighborhood in the state capital to seek assistance.

Images shared on social media show the front of Memo Garza’s bus, revealing at least two impact marks consistent with gunfire.
