This morning, the seismic alert sounded in Mexico City. The National Seismological Service indicated that the preliminary magnitude of the tremor was 6.0, centered northeast of Pinotepa Nacional, Oaxaca.
Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum reports that, according to the Civil Protection Coordination, no damage or casualties have been reported thus far as a result of the earthquake.
Pablo Vázquez Camacho, Mexico City’s Secretary of Security, states that following the seismic alert in the capital, security and civil protection protocols were activated, and “Cóndor” helicopter flyovers were initiated.
The Mexico City Secretariat of Mobility (Semovi) activated its response protocol across the entire Integrated Mobility Network after the seismic alert sounded. In a message posted on its social media channels, the agency urged the public to remain calm and follow evacuation routes.
