The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) has released crucial details about the armed attack carried out this Monday, April 20, at the Pyramid of the Moon. Authorities confirmed that the perpetrator was a single individual, identified as Julio César Ramírez Jasso, 27, who committed suicide after being surrounded by members of the National Guard.

The final toll of the tragedy includes the death of a Canadian woman, the assailant, and a total of 13 people injured, including a six-year-old child.

According to the official report, the attack unfolded on different levels of the pre-Hispanic structure around noon. The forensic investigation revealed the following evidence: Drug Trafficking News

First level: Location of the body of a Canadian woman (20-25 years old) with a gunshot wound to the head. Twenty-one spent .380 caliber shell casings and a tactical knife sheath were collected.
Second level: Discovery of a picture frame with an AI-generated photograph showing three men; the object is under intelligence analysis.

Third level (east side): Location of the body of Ramírez Jasso with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A revolver, a tactical knife, and a backpack containing books and photographs were seized.

Julio César Ramírez Jasso was wearing clothing similar to that worn by private security personnel: black boots, tactical pants, a belt, and a plaid shirt. Underneath, he wore a black t-shirt with the phrase “Disconnect & Self Destruct.”

This phrase alludes to the song “The Outsider” by the band A Perfect Circle. Although the lyrics are often interpreted as an ode to self-destruction, its author, Maynard James Keenan, has clarified that the song addresses the frustration of observing someone struggling with addiction from an outside perspective.

The international scale of the event is reflected in the diversity of the injured, who were taken to various medical facilities, primarily San Martín Hospital:

Canadians: One woman died and Felicia Lee (26 years old), wounded in the chest.

Colombians: Jerónimo (6 years old), wounded in the leg; Dayana Paola Castro (37 years old) and Luisa Fernanda Fuentes.

Americans: Six citizens with injuries of varying severity.

Brazilians: Two citizens injured.

Russian: Maicol Michelle, urgently transported with gunshot wounds.
Dutch: Francis A. Rivero and Delicia de Yong.

The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) continues its investigation to determine the exact motive and whether there was any prior connection between the assailant and the victim. The archaeological site remains under federal custody to ensure the complete collection of evidence.
