Director and Agent of Chihuahua’s State Investigation Agency Die, Along with Two U.S. Embassy Staff Members

Two employees of the State Investigation Agency (AEI) of Chihuahua and two officials from the U.S. Embassy in Mexico died following an accident on Sunday, April 19.

In response, the state governor, Maru Campos, expressed her condolences regarding the deaths of the officials, among whom was Pedro Román Oseguera Cervantes, the General Coordinator of the AEI, who died in the line of duty.

Through her social media channels, the governor sent a message addressed to the official’s family members and loved ones:

“I wish to express my deepest condolences to his wife, children, family members, friends, and colleagues… I wish you strength and swift comfort during these moments of profound grief. May he rest in peace.”

Maru Campos further highlighted that Oseguera Cervantes had worked actively to ensure the peace and security of the state’s residents.

For his part, the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, Ronald Johnson, expressed his sorrow over the deaths of two members of the U.S. diplomatic staff, as well as those of the officials from Chihuahua’s AEI. In his statement, the diplomat noted:

“We deeply mourn the tragic loss of two members of the U.S. Embassy staff, the Director of the State Investigation Agency (AEI) of Chihuahua, and an agent from that agency in this accident.”
