In 2017 and again in 2025, the Anaheim City Council reaffirmed a resolution declaring the city a welcoming place for immigrants, regardless of their legal status.
Now they’re taking that declaration a step further.
The city just debuted Anaheim Contigo (https://www.anaheim.net/contigo) where they provide updates about immigration enforcement in the Orange County municipality.
“We are watching for any federal immigration enforcement in Anaheim on Wednesday. We continue to advise caution,” reads the first paragraph of the Wednesday August 20 report where they also detailed a false report of an ICE raids on Tuesday and verified reports of immigration actions at a car wash over the weekend.
Mayor Ashleigh Aitken said the Anaheim Contigo program is still in its early stages and that they will include community input yo make it more efficient.
“If you could just listen to what we’re doing, and then, of course, we want your feedback on how we can make it better, how we can make it more relevant, and how we can all partner together to get the information out there,” Aitken said at Tuesday’s city council meeting.

In its Wednesday report, the City also stated that it voted to join a federal lawsuitchallenging immigration enforcement tactics “that have played out in our city and across the region as part of a surge operation that began on June 6.”

It also noted that Anaheim is not involved in federal immigration enforcement and is not notified about any operations.

“As a city, we do not support how federal immigration enforcement is being done and have joined with other cities in litigation against enforcement tactics,” reads the report that also offers resources and general information for immigrants.
