A dispute over the ownership of a home escalated into an attack that left three people dead—a woman and her two teenage children, aged 13 and 16—on the afternoon of Saturday, October 31, at a residence in the Los Capulines neighborhood of Apan, Hidalgo.
According to investigations by local authorities, the confrontation stemmed from a verbal argument between sisters Manuela C. S. and Ángela C. S.
During the altercation, 21-year-old Brandon G. C.—Ángela’s son—intervened on his mother’s behalf, wielding a knife with which he attacked his aunt and his two underage cousins, identified by the initials F. S. C. and J. A. C.
Upon the arrival of emergency services and public security personnel, it was confirmed that Manuela C. S. had died at the scene due to the severity of her stab wounds.
The two teenagers were transported alive to the Altiplano General Hospital; however, both passed away hours later at the facility as a result of the injuries sustained in the attack.
After committing the triple homicide, Brandon G. C. fled the property and hailed a taxi to leave the area. After traveling approximately 15 kilometers toward the neighboring municipality of Emiliano Zapata, the taxi driver realized what had happened, diverted his route, and turned the assailant over to municipal police officers in that jurisdiction.
At the scene, Apan police officers detained the assailant’s mother, Ángela C. S., who stated to the officers that the family conflict had been triggered by a dispute over a property. Both detainees were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Hidalgo (PGJEH) for the determination of their legal status and the formal initiation of criminal proceedings against them.
