A woman serving in the Armed Forces and assigned to the National Guard was found dead—unclothed and bearing signs of physical violence—on the morning of Monday, November 2, in the Alturas del Sur neighborhood, located in the southern part of Culiacán, Sinaloa. The victim was identified as 34-year-old Christian Ziboney, a native of the municipality of Escuinapa.
The discovery followed several calls made to the 911 emergency line shortly before 12:00 p.m., reporting an incident of domestic violence at an apartment on the third floor of a building on Cima del César Street, near the corner of Monte Ararat.
Upon arrival, security forces from various levels of government found the apartment’s front door wide open. Inside, they discovered the officer’s lifeless body.
The area was immediately cordoned off by security forces to preserve forensic evidence.
Witnesses and preliminary investigations point to her romantic partner—29-year-old Erick Gustavo, also an active-duty member of the National Guard—as the person responsible for the femicide. According to authorities, the suspect fled the scene in a gray 2009 Nissan Versa.
