Jesús Darío, alias “El Cara de Cochi”—leader of the criminal cell La Barredora 24/7, which is linked to the Caborca Cartel and subject to an active extradition warrant to the United States—was arrested alongside seven other individuals. The arrests took place during two simultaneous operations carried out by the Mexican Army, the National Guard, and the State of Mexico Secretariat of Security in the municipalities of Valle de Bravo and Toluca.
“El Cara de Cochi” was captured on the morning of Saturday, October 10, 2026, in Valle de Bravo, following coordinated intelligence efforts between federal authorities and the State of Mexico Attorney General’s Office (FGJEM). The criminal cell led by “El Cara de Cochi” operates primarily in the state of Sonora and has a history of extreme violence in the northern region.
On May 18, 2020, the organization left a *narcomanta* (a banner with a message from a criminal group) and a cooler containing human remains belonging to two individuals in the *ejido* (communal land area) of 15 de Septiembre, in the municipality of Caborca. The message identified the group as leaders of La Barredora 24/7 and the Caborca Cartel, explicitly naming Rodrigo Páez—alias “El R”—and Jesús Darío himself.
In the second operation, carried out in Toluca, security forces captured three Colombian nationals, including Christian, who was identified as a logistics liaison and head of security for “Carlitos Rugrats.”
Concurrently, an additional operation in the Casas Viejas neighborhood of Valle de Bravo resulted in the arrest of five more members of the criminal group: Jesús (40) and Carlos (27). Paola, 40; Melanie, 19; and Elizabeth, 26.
During tactical operations in both jurisdictions, security forces seized weaponry restricted to military use, magazines, hundreds of live rounds of ammunition, and various doses of methamphetamine prepared for sale and distribution.
Jesús Darío and the seven co-defendants have been placed at the disposal of federal and state prosecutors while the necessary legal procedures are carried out to execute the extradition order requested by U.S. authorities.
