In a joint operation carried out by federal and state forces in the municipality of Acapulco de Juárez, Guerrero, authorities arrested Eliceo “El Junior.” He has been identified as the leader of a criminal cell linked to the “La Mayiza” criminal organization through its armed wing, “Los Rusos.”

The arrest was confirmed this Sunday, October 11, 2026, by the head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch. He noted that the operation involved personnel from the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR), the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), the National Guard (GN), and the Guerrero State Attorney General’s Office (FGE).

Intelligence investigations identify “El Junior” as the leader of a criminal group that systematically extorted merchants at Acapulco’s Central Market. He was also responsible for coordinating extortion payments, the execution of rival gang members, and relentless armed attacks against public transport drivers and operators in the port city.

Furthermore, federal authorities have directly linked him to the logistics and selection of the gunmen who carried out an armed attack against SSPC agents in Acapulco in October 2025. With Eliceo’s capture, a total of seven criminals have now been arrested in connection with that assault.

During the security forces’ deployment to execute the arrest warrant, an armed individual opened fire on the operational team; officers returned fire, neutralizing the gunman at the scene.

Eliceo and the seized weaponry were handed over to the Federal Public Prosecutor to compile the case file and determine his legal status.
