An armed attack on the afternoon of Monday, September 28, in the Los Mezcales neighborhood—located north of the municipality of Culiacán, Sinaloa—left two men dead and two others injured.
The attack took place in the “ladrilleras” (brickyard) sector on Miguel de la Madrid Street. According to authorities, gunmen arrived at the scene and fired directly at a group of people present there.
One of the deceased victims was identified as Jesús Alberto, while the identity of the second deceased person remains unknown.
Regarding the two injured men—whose identities were not disclosed—one sustained a gunshot wound to a lower limb.
Upon receiving an alert via the 911 emergency number, first responders—including the State Preventive Police (PEP), the Culiacán Municipal Police, the Mexican Army, and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC)—arrived at the scene and secured the area.
Mexican Red Cross paramedics provided first aid to the two injured men at the scene and subsequently transported them to a hospital in Culiacán for specialized medical care.
Forensic experts from the General Directorate of Forensic Investigation and agents from the Investigative Police of the Sinaloa State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) processed the scene to collect ballistic evidence and compile the corresponding investigation file. The bodies of the two deceased men were transported to the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO) for the legally required autopsy and subsequent formal identification.
