On Friday, officers from the Mexico City Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) apprehended the so-called “dog killer”—an individual allegedly responsible for poisoning and killing at least two dogs in the La Condesa neighborhood and Parque España, located in the Cuauhtémoc borough of Mexico City.

On October 27, a report was received from a veterinary clinic in the La Condesa neighborhood, where several dogs were being treated after falling ill while being walked in the park.

Officers from the Mexico City Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), working alongside the Animal Surveillance Brigade and borough authorities, immediately conducted patrols in the area. During these patrols, they discovered a piece of sausage containing a blue pill, which may be linked to the incidents.

Based on the evidence gathered and an analysis of footage from the Command and Control Center (C2) surveillance cameras, authorities began the process of identifying and searching for the suspected perpetrator. He was arrested today near the intersection of Atlixco and Juan Escutia streets.

The SSC reported that officers stopped an individual identified as Salvador ‘N,’ whose physical description matches that of a person seen in images circulated on social media in connection with the dog poisonings. When officers attempted to conduct a preventive search, the 58-year-old suspect began insulting and assaulting them. He was subsequently taken into custody and brought before the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine his legal status and continue the ongoing investigation.

During the inquiry, it also emerged that, in recent days, one of the suspect’s sons had been attacked by a dog in the area—a detail that is now being considered as part of the investigation.
