New security camera footage has brought into question the actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents during the operation in which 52-year-old Mexican national Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was killed in Houston, Texas.
The videos, obtained and analyzed by The Washington Post, document nearly six minutes of the pursuit of the white pickup truck Salgado Araujo was driving on the morning of Tuesday, July 7, shortly before 7:00 a.m. While the recordings do not clearly capture the exact moment an agent fired, they do show a large number of unmarked federal vehicles and the close pursuit of the Mexican worker.
The case has raised questions because the agents involved were not wearing body cameras, making it difficult to accurately reconstruct the moment when lethal force was used.
