A federal grand jury in the District of Columbia has indicted Jaime “Jimmy” Sánchez Soriano, a 45-year-old man linked to the criminal group Los Viagras, for his alleged role in trafficking large quantities of methamphetamine into the United States.
According to the indictment, the Mexican national obtained methamphetamine from the aforementioned criminal group—an organization linked to Cárteles Unidos. The latter is identified as one of the world’s major methamphetamine producers, capable of manufacturing several tons of the narcotic each month.
The document, released on June 10, states that the Cárteles Unidos distribution network spans various U.S. cities—including Kansas City, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Sacramento, Los Angeles, Denver, and Chicago—and extends to Europe, Australia, and other regions.
It is worth noting that in February 2025, the U.S. State Department designated Cárteles Unidos as a terrorist organization; months later, in August of the same year, criminal charges were announced against high-ranking leaders of both criminal groups.
Sánchez Soriano faces charges of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine for importation into the U.S., as well as conspiracy to commit money laundering. If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
