A security operation that originated on the borders between Zacatecas and Jalisco led to a chase and confrontation in the mountain area of Nayarit, where six hitmen from the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) were killed by security forces.
According to the Secretary of Public Security of Zacatecas, Arturo Medina Mayoral, the mobilization began after the detection of an armed group on the border between Zacatecas and Jalisco.
Security corporations began tactical monitoring that extended through Jalisco municipalities until entering the demarcation of La Yesca, Nayarit.
In Nayarit territory, the aggressors shot at the troops, who repelled the aggression. The exchange of shots ended with the death of six of the CJNG gunmen.
The pursuit and combat operation was led by elements of the Mexican Army (SEDENA), with the support of state corporations.
After the confrontation, the Armed Forces and the state police secured the perimeter to allow the arrival of experts and personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) of Nayarit, who carried out the removal of the bodies and the securing of ballistic evidence.
The authorities reported that no security personnel were injured or killed during the intervention. The corresponding prosecutor’s offices are keeping investigations open to identify the six abbés and determine the criminal group to which they belonged.
