Banda El Recodo responded to the statements of Emma Coronel, wife of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, who revealed that the group would have entertained the baptism of their twin daughters together with Los Tucanes de Tijuana more than a decade ago.
In an interview with the program De Primera Mano, Ricky Yocupicio and Geovanni Mondragón, vocalists of the Sinaloan group, were directly questioned about whether it is true that they played at the event, which occurred in 2011, the year in which the twins Emali Guadalupe and María Joaquina were born.
Yocupicio referred the responsibility of clarifying the episode to the members who were part of the band at that time. “The ones who should tell you are the people who were there at that time, we don’t know if they worked or didn’t work, because at the end of the day we go to places where we don’t even know who pays us, the truth is,” he declared to the aforementioned program.
The vocalist insisted that the group does not inquire into the identity of the person who hires it, as long as there is the ability to pay. “If you have the way to pay the Banda El Recodo, we have always said it, a taxi driver, a bricklayer, a waiter,” he noted, adding that we should not belittle those who raise the money to pay for a presentation.
