Muxe designer Elvis Guerra reported that President Claudia Sheinbaum personally contacted him yesterday to assure him that there would be no impunity regarding the threats, extortion, and armed attack directed at him.
The President, Guerra said, also pledged to deploy a security operation in Juchitán de Zaragoza—a municipality in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec region—led by the federal government’s Secretariat of Public Security and Citizen Protection (SSPyPC).
Two individuals on a motorcycle fired shots at Elvis Guerra’s home, located in the Seventh Section of Juchitán, on the night of September 18, 2026. According to the victim, the armed attack stemmed from an extortion attempt following the opening of an event venue.
Elvis Guerra is one of the designers and textile artisans who helped create the dress worn by President Claudia Sheinbaum during the “Grito de Independencia” (Cry of Independence) ceremony.
“Yesterday, Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum personally reached out to say she was aware of the case and told me there would be no impunity. I emphasized to her that I was not only demanding justice for myself but also calling for justice regarding all the acts of violence that have occurred in Juchitán.”
In a video posted on Facebook, the Muxe designer stated that his formal complaint is part of a collective struggle, noting that the aggression, threats, and extortion he faced are neither isolated incidents nor solely about him as an individual; he added that it takes courage to report such acts.
“I asked her for what the people of Juchitán have long requested: peace and security.
“Likewise, the governor contacted me later and said he would also implement security measures.” “Both offered to have me join the Protection Mechanism so I could feel a bit safer,” she explained.
Elvis Guerra also urged the public to report such cases so that justice could be achieved.
Finally, the designer from Juchitán stated that he fears for his life and the lives of his family members. “This isn’t just about Elvis; I insist that this is a complaint on behalf of the entire town of Juchitán,” he reiterated.
