Sheinbaum Affirms from Palenque: “No Foreign Government May Enter Our Territory”

“No foreign government may enter our territory”—so declared President Claudia Sheinbaum from Palenque, Chiapas, where the head of state underscored her message in defense of Mexico’s sovereignty.

It is worth noting that her words stand out against a backdrop marked by tensions with the United States, stemming from accusations leveled against the Governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, who is alleged to have ties to a Mexican cartel.

The Mexican leader attended the inauguration of the “La Ceiba” Ecopark, where she addressed the attendees, highlighting phrases in her speech that define the stance of the administration led by Mexico’s first female president:

“We hold the principles of our movement very close to our hearts; that is why no foreign government may enter our territory—because here, among us, are Mexican men and women who defend the homeland. Consequently, any foreign government runs up against principles—specifically, the principle of the defense of sovereignty; thus, any foreign government runs up against something of immense strength.”

The President further detailed that one of the strengths of the Mexican citizenry lies in the context of their shared history—a history that “empowers the people”—as well as in “a government that serves… that is what defines us.” With these words, Sheinbaum concluded her message.
