Federal security agents arrested José Porfirio Díaz Medina—alias “El Pío”—in Ahome; he is identified as an operative and associate of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada.
According to reports, “El Pío’s” arrest took place on Thursday, April 30, in the Las Misiones residential area, located in the city of Los Mochis.
“El Pío’s” capture marks another success in the recent operations carried out by the Security Cabinet against organized crime—operations that also include the apprehension of “El Jardinero,” an operative for the CJNG.
José Porfirio Díaz Medina—known as “El Pío”—was captured during a joint operation conducted by members of the National Guard and the Secretariat of Security within a residential neighborhood in Ahome.
The National Registry of Detentions detailed that the arrest occurred at approximately 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, and that the suspect was subsequently placed in the custody of the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The official record notes that, at the time of his arrest, “El Pío” was wearing a brown T-shirt, blue denim jeans, and blue-and-black sandals; the report does not specify whether he was carrying any type of weapon.
