On Thursday, April 16, internet users shared and circulated old photographs of Omar García Harfuch taken during his time with the now-defunct Federal Police.

The images show the current head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection wearing a tactical uniform, smiling, and interacting with his fellow officers during what marked one of his first forays into the field of public security.

García Harfuch received various commendations throughout his career with the Federal Police. In 2012, the force awarded him the Second-Class Police Merit Decoration in recognition of his performance. Three years later, in 2015, he was awarded the First-Class Police Merit Decoration—a distinction reserved for commanders who distinguished themselves in high-impact operations and strategic duties within the institution.
