The hearing—which was set to determine the future of the case against Naasón Joaquín García—has been postponed until April 27, after the complainants argued that they had not been granted access to the complete case file compiled by the Attorney General’s Office (FGR).
The federal judge ruled to reschedule the proceeding, which is considered crucial for deciding whether to reactivate the investigation in Mexico.
Control Judge Juan José Rodríguez Velarde, assigned to the Federal Criminal Justice Center in Puente Grande, Jalisco, suspended the hearing after it had been in session for barely half an hour.
The decision was made after the victims stated that they lacked the necessary information to analyze the arguments that led the FGR to decline to press criminal charges.
The new date will allow the parties to review the complete case file and prepare their positions ahead of a ruling that could alter the course of the case within Mexican territory.
