On June 16, 2026, personnel from the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR) arrested Valdemar R., alias “El Valdo,” in the city of Colima. He had been identified as a priority target due to his alleged involvement in international drug trafficking and multiple violent incidents in both Mexico and the United States. The operation, coordinated by the Colima State Coordination Board, also resulted in the capture of two other individuals wanted for extradition.

According to the official report from the Colima government, “El Valdo” is accused of coordinating the trafficking of large quantities of methamphetamine and cocaine into the United States, a role that led to an extradition warrant issued by U.S. authorities. The same agency identified him as the alleged mastermind behind multiple homicides committed on both Mexican and U.S. soil.

Intelligence investigations indicated that Valdemar R. previously held a significant position within the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG); however, following internal disagreements with that organization, he left its ranks to join the Gulf Cartel (CDG), where he continued his drug trafficking activities.

As part of the same operation, SEMAR—acting in coordination with the Naval Intelligence Unit, Interpol, the Colima State Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), and the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE)—also apprehended Ramón “N” and Cristina “N” in the town of La Presa, in the municipality of Ixtlahuacán. Both were subject to arrest warrants for extradition purposes on charges of criminal conspiracy and human trafficking.
