The Mexican government’s Security Cabinet stated that it possesses neither information nor evidence regarding the alleged involvement of Raúl Guillermo Rodríguez Castro—grandson of former Cuban President Raúl Castro—with criminal groups engaged in human trafficking in the state of Quintana Roo.
In an information brief addressing a report published by *The New York Times* about the criminal network known as the “Cuban Mafia of Quintana Roo,” the Security Cabinet agencies noted that they “do not have their own information or evidence regarding the allegations made in that news article.”
Furthermore, Mexican authorities stated that they also lack information “regarding the alleged links between criminal organizations and foreign officials—or their relatives—referenced in the report.”
The Mexican government reiterated “its commitment to international cooperation in the fight against organized crime and human trafficking.”
The U.S. newspaper reported that Rodríguez Castro allegedly has ties to an organization involved in human trafficking.
