Jesús Javier Martínez de los Ángeles, a member of the criminal group “La Chokiza,” was sentenced to 47 years and six months in prison for extortion committed against a merchant in the municipality of Ecatepec, State of Mexico.
The sentence handed down to the man was announced by the State of Mexico Attorney General’s Office (FGJEM) on June 23. The official report indicates that the aforementioned criminal group is linked to various high-impact crimes and operates in the municipalities of Ecatepec, Tecámac, Coacalco, Tultitlán, Acolman, Tezoyuca, Tultepec, and Zumpango.
According to the investigation by the state prosecutor’s office, the events leading to Javier’s sentencing took place in July 2025, when the victim—a street vendor selling groceries in Ecatepec—received a call from the now-convicted man, who identified himself as a member of “La Chokiza.”
