Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, head of the Baja California Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSCBC), confirmed to the media on Tuesday, June 23, that Christian Alexis Mendoza Guillén—alias “El Plaga,” a former cell leader of the criminal group “Los Rusos”—had been released after completing his sentence.
The individual, also identified as Eduardo René Robles López, concluded a three-and-a-half-year legal process following his arrest in Mexicali in November 2022. He was last held at Federal Social Reintegration Center No. 13, located in Miahuatlán de Porfirio Díaz, Oaxaca.
Carrillo told the media that authorities are aware of the situation and announced that the criminal operative—a native of Culiacán, Sinaloa—would be under surveillance.
“El Plaga” served his sentence for the crime of possessing ammunition magazines restricted for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces. Additionally, a fine of just over 3,000 pesos was waived, according to the news outlet *Zeta Tijuana*.
Speaking to the media, General Carrillo Rodríguez noted that, for the time being, there was no record of activity by the operative within the state.
