The mayor of Ciudad Juárez, Cruz Pérez Cuéllar, demanded that Governor María Eugenia Campos Galván not downplay the alleged participation of US agents in field operations related to organized crime in Chihuahua and fulfill her obligation to provide an explanation to the public and society.

Security in Chihuahua demands responsibility, coordination, and adherence to the law, stated the mayor, a member of the Morena party.

The mayor emphasized that the alleged illegal presence of international agencies demands an immediate and clear response from the state government.

Pérez Cuéllar made these remarks while commenting on the case of two US agents who were involved in an operation in the Sierra Tarahumara alongside officers from the State Investigation Agency.

“As President Claudia Sheinbaum has stated, state governments must explain and respect the law regarding security; compliance is not optional,” he said.

“From Ciudad Juárez, we are clear on this: in security matters, coordination and action are necessary, without excuses; Governor María Eugenia Campos has an obligation to step forward and explain with complete clarity what happened. To fail to do so is to fail Chihuahua.”
