Following social media criticism regarding the support Marcos Eduardo Castro—known as Markitos Toys—lent to the campaign of Sinaloa’s governor on leave, Rubén Rocha Moya, the YouTuber hosted a live stream in which he presented his side of the story and stated that he would have liked to serve as interim governor.
The remarks by the young Culiacán native come after Rocha faced charges in the United States linking him to “Los Chapitos” of the Sinaloa Cartel.
Towards the end of the broadcast, Markitos Toys addressed the legal and political situation within the state. He noted that following the leadership transition, a woman was appointed to head the local government—referring to Yeraldine Bonilla.
He immediately declared: “I would have liked for them to have appointed *me* as governor.” He explained that the idea arose after observing the change in leadership, and that he does not fear the responsibility of assuming public office in such a context.
The content creator clarified that he does not harbor formal political aspirations, but that his experience as an influential public figure—combined with his deep ties to Sinaloa—led him to consider the possibility.
