Isela Lizbeth González López, an accountant and state assemblywoman for the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) in Oaxaca, was murdered on June 12, 2026, on a central street in Santiago Pinotepa Nacional.
Following the crime, the PRD Oaxaca State Executive Committee condemned it, describing it as a mass shooting and demanding an immediate investigation with a gender perspective.
The party described the murder as “a brutal act of extreme violence against a woman and a serious attack on the dignity and human rights of women in Oaxaca.” The PRD Oaxaca also noted that femicidal violence persists and is escalating, particularly in the coastal region where the crime occurred.
In a press release shared on June 13, the PRD leadership demanded that the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Oaxaca (FGEO) conduct a diligent, thorough investigation in accordance with the Femicide Protocol.
