Two men were executed on the afternoon of Sunday, October 11, while at the soccer fields in the Klein neighborhood—near Juan Pablo II Avenue and close to the perimeter wall of the Third Military Region—in Mazatlán, Sinaloa.
According to preliminary investigations, the victims had just finished a match and were resting in the shade of some trees when a hitman approached and shot them at close range before fleeing on a motorcycle.
The victims were preliminarily identified by the nicknames “El Keño” and “El Licha.” As of now, the full circumstances surrounding the attack have not been clarified.
Witnesses to the attack alerted security forces via the 911 emergency number; paramedics arrived at the scene to provide first aid but confirmed that both individuals showed no vital signs due to the severity of the gunshot wounds they had sustained.
Personnel from the Mexican Army, State Police, and municipal police cordoned off the sports area to preserve the crime scene and launched a search operation in the surrounding neighborhoods.
Forensic experts and agents from the Sinaloa State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) processed the area to collect ballistic evidence and compile the corresponding investigation file.
The victims’ bodies were transported to the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO) as unidentified persons, pending mandatory forensic examinations and subsequent identification by their families.
