Teotihuacán, State of Mexico. Two days after the tragedy that shook the archaeological zone of Teotihuacán, the family of Julio César Jasso—the 27-year-old man responsible for the attack—has broken its silence. Diana Laura Jasso Ramírez, the attacker’s sister, issued a public statement early this Wednesday morning via social media, distancing herself from her brother’s actions and criticizing the media narrative surrounding the case. “I have absolutely NO reason to APOLOGIZE for ANYTHING! I have not committed any crime. I have no reason to take responsibility for actions that I did not commit,” she declared.
The shooter’s sister asserted that 90% of the information circulating on digital platforms and in the media is false or has been distorted by individuals seeking “their minute of fame” by claiming to know her brother.
