Violence caught up with Abraham Ruiz Aguilar years after he left Veracruz to escape threats from organized crime.
The 33-year-old businessman was shot and killed on the morning of Thursday, June 18, while driving a BMW along Calzada Zavaleta in the city of Puebla.
According to initial reports, armed individuals intercepted the vehicle—bearing license plate RCN-262-E—and fired repeatedly at the driver. One of the bullets struck the businessman in the head; he died inside the vehicle before receiving medical attention.
At the time of the attack, he was accompanied by a woman identified in some local reports as his partner. She was the one who called emergency services following the assault; however, paramedics could only confirm his death.
Ruiz Aguilar was known for his involvement in the nightlife and adult entertainment sectors. In Puebla, he owned Foxies Men’s Club and Butcher’s Steakhouse, establishments located in the Recta a Cholula area.
He had arrived in Puebla prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to local media reports, he decided to relocate after facing threats from criminal groups in Veracruz, where he had also managed similar businesses alongside his brother.
