An armed attack carried out on the night of Friday, July 10, inside a private medical clinic located on the Libramiento Colosio in the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood of Mazatlán, Sinaloa, left one employee dead and another injured.
According to witnesses at the scene, the gunmen arrived at the establishment in a black vehicle. They then entered the building and opened fire directly, causing panic among patients, family members, and medical staff present. After carrying out the attack, the perpetrators fled the scene in an unknown direction.
After receiving the report through the emergency number, paramedics arrived at the medical center to provide first aid to the two employees who were injured by the gunfire.
Both women were rushed to different hospitals in the city for specialized care; however, hours later, the death of one of them was confirmed while she was undergoing surgery.
The attack prompted a large-scale mobilization of all three levels of government. Members of the Mexican Army, the National Guard, and the Municipal Police secured and cordoned off the perimeter of the clinic to preserve the crime scene and ensure the safety of those in the area.
Subsequently, specialized forensic experts and agents from the Investigative Police of the Sinaloa State Attorney General’s Office processed the area, collected ballistic evidence, and gathered the necessary evidence to be included in the corresponding investigation file.
To date, authorities have not reported any arrests nor have they established a motive for the attack, so the investigation remains open to identify the perpetrators.
