Marco Antonio Gómez Vargas, alias “El Kino,” brother of former Chicoloapan mayor Nancy Gómez, was arrested on the night of Friday, July 10, 2026, according to data confirmed by Infobae Mexico in the National Registry of Detentions (RND).
A second record appeared dated Saturday, July 11, at 11:30 a.m., both with the status of “information transfer,” raising the question of whether he was released and arrested a second time in less than 24 hours.
The arrest reportedly took place in the state of Chiapas. Journalist Carlos Jiménez, better known as c4jimenez, reported after the arrest that agents from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), headed by Omar García Harfuch, and the Special Warrants Group of the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico participated in the operation.
The arrest brought to a close a cycle that Jiménez had been documenting since 2022, when he began publicly identifying Marco Antonio as a criminal operative who acted with impunity while his sister served as mayor.
