Searching mothers reported the discovery of five clandestine graves containing five bodies in the municipality of Concordia, in southern Sinaloa.

The discovery was made near the town of El Verde, where the bodies of a group of miners kidnapped by an armed group were found months ago.

Members of the collective Por las Voces Sin Justicia (For Voices Without Justice) revealed the discovery of the five bodies: two on Saturday and three on Sunday, during search efforts in the area.

Apparently, the five bodies are those of men, but no clues were found that could help identify them immediately. Forensic genetic testing will be necessary to determine their identities.

The searching mothers went to the site on their own and without protection from authorities, after failing to obtain support from the State Search Commission, as they reported on their social media accounts.

“We continue this work with our own resources due to the lack of support, vehicles, and machinery from the Sinaloa State Commission for the Search of Missing Persons. Despite this, we continue going out into the field because we know that behind every discovery there is a family waiting for answers,” they stated.

So far this year, authorities and various search groups have reported at least 25 bodies found in the vicinity of the community of El Verde, Concordia, including the 10 missing miners.
